SOLVED Gantry 5 and Navmenu

    • Does Gantry 5 work with navmenu?

If not, will Gantry 5 offer a similar feature to customize our menus? To redesign a menu I don't feel comfortable (yet) with coding and manipulation of all the special files requiring changes.

      Thanks,
      Carol

    • Can you use a roknavmenu in Gantry 5 - yes if you really wanted too but Gantry 5 menu does most things that roknavmenu does.

What is it that you want to customise that you can't in Gantry 5? You are using the Gantry 5 menu editor aren't you? (there are a myriad of options in there so I'd like to understand what you're having difficulty with). You should need to do anything with custom coding or files to configure it (unless you want some specific CSS styling).

    • I just wondered if I could use navmenu until I have adequate time to wrap my brain around Gantry 5 and then style a menu without breaking things. I have no clue where to begin restyling a menu in Gantry 5.

All I want is a full width, classy menu with a clear, readable font. Think Dominion, Stratos, Tachyon, and, last but not least, I'd kill for the one you have on RT's site.

To be honest, Gantry 5 has me stumped. I.M.H.O., we need some freakin' classes available for Gantry. Call it RT Boot Camp... but gees, my brain is melting here. LOL!

    • Changing something like the font in the Gantry 5 menu (or any other styling) is done the same way as Gantry 4 - i.e. you just use a little custom CSS to make the changes. Gantry 5 template (just like Gantry 4 ones) style the menu to fit in with the rest of the template design (i.e. we add a little CSS in the template to do that). If you need any help restyling a Gantry 5 menu please just raise a new topic and we'll be glad to help you if you let us know what you are trying to change.

I really can't recommend that you use roknavmenu in a Gantry 5 template, you can but I wouldn't. You'll be losing out on so much if you were to do that.

    • Thanks for the info. It's back to the drawing board for me. I'll play around with it and see what happens. I keep good backups... worst I can lose is 10 minutes restoring.

More learning, oh whoop, oh joy, okay. LOL!
