SOLVED why it is so difficult to load a module on the menu?

  • SOLVED why it is so difficult to load a module on the menu?

Posted 9 years 4 days ago
    • What I want is: I create a new menu item on the mainmenu (main navigation menu of the website), type "placeholder", and title "Login". when users hover on this placeholder menu item, there will dropdown/extend its submenu, which is totally a login form.

I thought: it is very easy to create a new "placehoder" type menu item as the "first level" menu item in Joomla's "menu manager". Then, if Gantry5 allows me easily put a "login form" module as its submenu content, then I will get what I wanted.

But, the truth is: it is very difficult to put a module as its submenu. In fact, I still have not succeeded till now.

Could you please tell me how to put a "login form" module (the one Joomla core has) to the submenu of a "placehoder" type menu item?

Well, I tried on the "Menu" settings of Gantry5, since my "Login" menu item has no submenu at beginning, I can not drag and drop the "module" block into its submenu position, I can ONLY put it as a new element on the same level, the first level.

Then I did a trick: I created a new "ghost" menu item as the submenu of "Login" menu item , then go to Gantry5 menu manager, now I can click on "Login" and there shows a submenu for it. Next, I drag the drop the "module" element to its submenu and choose "Login form" as the module I want to show there. Then I save menu, and then go to Joomla core "menu manager" and unpublish the "ghost" submenu item.

Now, when I refresh the frontend page, I see "Login" placehoder menu item as one of the first level items. I click on it (because hovering can not trigger the dropdown) , then I see Login Form on its submenu.

Do you think this is a "good idea"? I think it is a SHIT !

Gantry Framework has developed for years, but I always feel it VERY DIFFICULT TO LOAD A MODULE ON MENU. Just like this case.

I had tried "Mega Menu", which is very easy to load a module on the menu, very easy to split columns on submenu. Why these things are so difficult on Gantry framework?

    • Be sure to use latest versiom Gantry.
Click on the menu-item so a first level dropdown appears.
Now drag a particle ir module into the dropdown-placeholder.
      The partcile can be a module-poition ...

Pretty straight forward I would say
