SOLVED [Solved] RokAjaxSearch does not search pages

Posted 8 years 11 months ago
    • Hi,
I am a bit confused. I am building my webpage with gantry and the freamework page builder.
This works great and the site looks awesome.
But if I am trying to search the site with the search module is not searching the site I built. It searches only in blog pages not the pages itself. The question I also have is if gantry build websites with page builder are searchable by google?

Is there a secret I do not know how do index manually build sites to be searchable?

      The site is development.seyffer-gmbh.de

I placed the login informations in the secure tab.

      thanks and kind regards

      R.

    • Particles are not searched by the joomla search module and will therefore not find this content. Joomla knows nothing about particles.

    • Hi Mark,
that is very bad. How can I do make my site searchable? Is there a workaround? The framework is great to create sites but it makes no sense if they are not searchable. any idea?

      thanks for help

      kind regards r.

    • You cannot with particle content. There is an outstanding ticket on this on the Gantry 5 project https://github.com/gantry/gantry5/issues/237 .

    • Mmmmm. Just to understand correctly my work:
So was it not right to use particles to create outstanding layouts like your templates did? Did I make it wrong or is it just that joomla is a bit of stupid thing not to search the pure html code of a rendered site?

I was now thinking to duplicate each content as a post and relink the posts to the sites as a workaround.

And on the other question. Does the site will be searchable by google? Hope so because google is looking to the site itself and not the cms-system.

thanks and kind regards for any advice.

    • Joomla does not (and never has) read anything other than it's own content (i.e. categories and articles). It does not know anything about third-party products or their content. Rokajaxsearch just uses the standard joomla advanced search component under the covers, all it's doing is the "ajax" bit to make the search fire as you type and to present the results in a dropdown. Rokajaxsearch does not do the search itself.

If you want content to be searchable then you need to use joomla content. Some of our particles can take the data from joomla articles too (e.g. the "Joomla article" particle, plus other new particles in the "Topaz" template). Remember though it's Joomla content that is being search still (not the particles).

Google can search your site and index the pages (even particles) because it just looks at the completed html of the page (it doesn't know how it's made).

      Regards, Mark.

    • Hi Mr. T.
I found a solution which seems to me the best this moment.
I created my own search engine in google and used some css to modify the results.
If this is interesting I can share the way how to do and my css snippet.
I implemented the search only on home now for testing and this moment the search results are showing the old site because the new one is not in google now but will be when the site is online.

May be this is interesting for rocket theme until a new version will be online for searching also particles.

      kind regards Reinhard :-)
