SOLVED How to move Gantry 5 customized template to another domain name?

  • SOLVED How to move Gantry 5 customized template to another domain name?

Posted 8 years 9 months ago
    • I'm using Joomla 3.6, Gantry 5.3, Hydrogen Template (customized).

I would like to move the template from my test site to another domain name. I do not want to backup and restore the entire test site, because the test site has some other problems.

I found a thread at Github.com , but maybe it is not the answer.

      Efforts to date:
      1) New install of Joomla 3.6
      2) New install of Gantry 5.3
      3) New install of Hydrogen template
      4) I tried copying the g_hydrogen folder across to the new site, but Gantry 5 did not discover my customized template.

      Thanks for suggestions.

    • It depends what you customised but - http://docs.gantry.org/gantry5/tutorials/moving-between-themes .

By far the safest way to backup and clone your site.

    • Operating site: backgroundsearch.com with customized Hydrogen template
Test site: fraudstoppers.com with new install of Joomla 3.62, Gantry 5.32, Hydrogen 5.32

I copied g5_hydrogen/custom folder from my operating site (backgroundsearch.com) to my test site (fraudstoppers.com). The data is there in the custom folder, but fraudstoppers.com does not see my customized template.

Later Edit: I had another thought to try. So maybe hold on this until I edit again.

2nd Later Edit: That idea did not work our. Gantry 5 component still does not see the custom templates.

      Am I missing a step?

    • What did your "customise"?
      How did you "customise" it?
Did you recompile CSS from base outline after copying it?

    • Thanks for helping.

This is what worked for me:

      Old site:
Using Joomla 3.62, Gantry 5.3, Hydrogen template (customized).

      New site:
      1) New install of Joomla 3.6
      2) New install of Gantry 5.3
      3) New install of Hydrogen template
      4) Copied necessary images across to the new site.
      5) Copied the template's g5_hydrogen folder across to the new site, but Gantry 5 component did not discover or recognize my customized template.
      6) Deleted mySql tbl_template_styles from the new site.
      7) Exported mySql tbl_template_styles from the old site.
8 ) Imported mySql tbl_template_styles into the new site.
      9) Recompiled CSS from base outline.
      10) Then Gantry 5 recognized all versions of my customized template.
