SOLVED Gantry 5 - Index State Not Allowed

    • Hi,

I'm having an annoying hiccup when trying to install Gantry 5 and my themes. Heres my issue:

I started with the installation instructions.

From docs.gantry.com, the installation instructions just say to enable all Gantry extensions.

However, when I select the Enable button per the instructions, I get the message "Edit state is not allowed."

Looking through the forum, I couldn’t find anything. So, I googled it and found this topic:

      forum.joomla.org/viewtopic.php?t=766403

It doesn’t mention Gantry by name but it sounds like the same problem. I’m not familiar with Joomla yet to understand the solution — I read it three times. I’m just not getting it.

      Can you help?

      Thanks.

    • Hi Chris,

the error you're getting is actually not anything to be concerned about.
The Gantry package itself is enabled and Gantry is working as expected.

The reason why it is grayed out in your admin but not in our documentation is that you're admin is loading the Hathor admin template instead of the default Isis admin template, I am not sure why that is, you may want to contact your host about this.

I went to > Components > Gantry 5 Themes... and noticed there are no templates installed at all, so I installed the Citadel standalone template package for you and it is now showing on frontend.

Please note that if you wish to use the RocketLauncher package instead, you will have to use it as a completely NEW Joomla installation, it can not be installed into an already existing Joomla site.

So the template and Gantry are both working as expected and you can disregard the 'error'.

Please let us know if you have any further questions.

      Kat

    • Hi again,

we'll also adjust the documentation accordingly. The screenshot is showing the EXTENSIONS manager, but specific Gantry 5 plugins can only be disabled/enabled one by one in the PLUGINS manager. Apologies for the confusion. :)

    • Thanks all. I don't know need to contact the host, though. Hathor admin was enabled because I enabled it. I like it better than the default ISIS template. I had no clue that it would interfere with Gantry installation.

I did read the part about doing a clean install with Gantry but just assumed that if installed over an existing (but brand new) Joomla install, it would just overwrite. So, apparently not. You might want to emphasize in your docs that it must be a clean install for mopes like me.

Thanks for the speedy help! You all rock.
