SOLVED Disable the slider on news articles

    • Hi,

I have a category blog as home page and a slider on top. But when you click on read more, I want the slider to be gone. However, obviously the slider module is set on home and when you read more, you are still on the home page. So regardless of template overrides the slider stays.

I've made a news page/category in a hidden menu but I don't know how to point the articles there instead of the homepage.

For instance, this is what happens now:

      temp.alles3d.nl/24-bir-rapport-toont-eno...ie-co2-uitstoot.html

And I'd like it like this:

      temp.alles3d.nl/nieuws/24-bir-rapport-to...ie-co2-uitstoot.html

Does anyone know how I can achieve this? I'm using the Joomla Isotope template, but I guess that doesn't matter

      Thanks for any answers!

    • This is normal Joomla behaviour for "orphaned" or "menuless" articles. To get around this use the hidden-menu technique.

Create a MENU called "hidden" (no need to create a module to place it anywhere). In the hidden menu, create a MENU ITEM for each of the orphaned articles (single article type) and make sure these menu items are published. Now the hidden menu won't appear on any of your pages, but, the articles will now open in their own page. You can also use the same technique and create a hidden category blog menu item to pick up multiple articles too, thus saving having to create a hidden menu item for every article.

      Regards, Mark.

    • Hi Mark,

Thanks for the reply. However, that is exactly what I did, I also thought that would solve it. It's the same category blog as the homepage, but then in a hidden menu called 'Nieuws' As you can see in the link.. i'm probably forgetting something :p

    • Must have been a typo. But it's no longer an issue.. the customer doesn't want a slider at all anymore :p

      Thanks for the help
