SOLVED Configruing the Default YAML files.

    • Hi,

I am using gantry and downloaded the default helium template which got the sample data and has the default layouts configured.

How do id create a similar YAML layout that can further be just installed using the Joomla template (as part of the gantry template).

I do see an option to manually edit the TEMPLATE/layouts/home_-_particles.yaml directly but it's quiet confusing to do it and not as easy as I am hoping it to be.

Any direction would be greatly appreciated.

May be i am not asking the right question.

    • You're going straight to an advanced subject but http://docs.gantry.org/gantry5/theme-development .

Why do you want to do this? Are you a theme developer? Gantry offers so much in terms of the ability to alter things on the layout that I am surprised that you need to do this unless you are a theme developer?

    • Mark, that was quick.

Yes, I am a theme developer (All though, I don't do any good as you guys).

I will have a look at the link.

    • In which case I suggest that you become very familiar with Gantry 5 first and particles, yaml, twig css and html, before you start trying to create your own templates. This specifically will help you though when you do decide to go that route too http://docs.gantry.org/gantry5/theme-development/change-theme-name .

Personally I would start with yaml and twig in particles before tackling a whole theme so you understand all the fields types, indentation importance etc etc.
