Posted 7 years 9 months ago
    • Could someone help me out here. The hydrogen template navigation is not working as expected and i cannot see why.
The mainhome tab remains higlighted :white: as active no matter what other tab/page is clicked on.

I dont belive this is intented the active page should be turning white as the home is onload should it not? Coould someone possibel assit? I find abbsolulty no settings in the template to change this in any way.
      site is kofc9278.com/

    • In your menu particle you had set the base menu item to "home" instead of "active" - once I changed this it then works ok.

    • Really is that all? Thanks for that

Now this brings up a question to mind same topic and gantry templates not just this one..

When working with Gantry I always have trouble having the "page content" in the template to display the content intended is this in the same line of thinking.

What i mean is to have "abc" show up for page content on a gantry custom page the article need to be named "abc" in the active menu?

For example in this site I had to change the custom page used for HOME to a single article in the menu setting to even have it show up. So I am assuming if I had that particle set to active that page article named "HOME" would have worked and shown up correctly.

I read and reread the instructions on this topic multiple time on this site and others i have worked on with absolutely no understanding gained on how to have it work.

I usually have to set up menu with the single article type to display content for that page. I can never seem to get that intended content to display by simple naming it the same as the menu link and using page content in the template.

    • Hmmm, I think you're misunderstanding or I am misunderstanding you...

You want the menu particle to be using "active" as the base because your want the "active" menu item to always be the menu item that you have clicked on. By setting it to "home" you were always making "home" the base menu item regtardless of what you clicked on. The times that you will want to change this setting are very rare indeed (really split menus is the only case where you might want to change this).

"page content" particle has nothing to do with any of the above. The "page content" particle is where all component output (which include joomla articles, category blogs, contact form, etc) are rendered. It doesn't matter what title you put on an article - it has no relevance to the "page content" particle.

So basically, to avoid any further confusion, just leave the base item setting in your menu particle as "active" always.

      Regards, Mark.

    • I guess I am not explaining it well.
If i have it set as you indicate not disputing that.
How do I have the article render in that "page content" field of the template. Yes a direct link in the menu is possible.

But if using the gantry custom menu link how do I have a "spesific" article be displayed on lets say the home page.

I assumed it had to be named the same as the menue link. If not how do we assign the article to the menu using the gantry custom page.
I again assumed that nameing the article would assign it to the menu link of the same page.

    • If you want to display a single article then the menu item type needs to be of type "single article" not "Gantry 5 custom". The "Gantry 5 custom" is really specific to not rendering any component output at all (unless you fill in the particle details within the menu item itself). So, just change the menu item type and then pick the article you want to show in the menu item.
