SOLVED Frontend editing no longer working, just a darkened screen

- We are using JEvents to allow frontend editing of events from authorised users after login. A problem has recently arisen where this system is no longer working. When clicking on the frontend editing pencil we now only get a darkened screen and the editing window does not show at all. If we set back to the default Joomla template it works fine so it appears to be an issue with the template relating to z-index. We are using Gantry v4.1.40 with Framework 4.1.40 with Joomla 3.9.4. How can I troubleshoot this?

This issue is caused by bootstrap.

Sorry I spoke too soon.
It seems to work fine in Firefox and Edge but it does NOT work in Chrome..?

You seem to have remove the login details and instruction how to recreate this issue from your posts now so I don't now how to reproduce this> Please would you post your URL, superuser id and pswd in the secure tab of your post and I'll have a look for you. Give me exact steps to reproduce.
Please do a screenshot of your problem and annotate to make it clear.

It is working perfectly for me in Chrome too (see screenshot). Clear you browser cache.
