SOLVED How to replicate gantry layout from localhost to webserver

Posted 6 years 1 month ago
    • Hi,

I use localhost to test and prepare my website. Then I replicate to the website by importing Sqldatabase.

I have noticed that this process is not effective for Gantry 5 layout copy, and I have to upload by FTP the full template directory.
This is not a theme to theme replication (which is documented at Gantry 5 helper pages), but host to host.

Can you tell me whiche directories and files are necessary for this work ?

      Regards,
      Emms

    • Hi Emms,

      The layouts are discussed here:

      LINK

There is also a section on creating custom layouts in there. Theyre definitely not found in the database.

      Hope this helps.

    • Hi,

The topic is solved. As mentioned by Paula, Gantry 5 layout is based on files, which are located at TEMPLATE-DIR/custom.

Though I can't say exactly which file is what(tehre are many yaml files there), copying the full directory to the website structure copies the changes.

    • By far the best way of copying a whole site is to use Akeeba backup and Akeeba kickstart as that maintains the integrity of the relationship between files and database.

If you are just trying to copy an outline (not the whole site) then please see the dcos here http://docs.gantry.org/gantry5/tutorials/moving-between-themes .

      Regards, Mark.

    • Hi Mr T,

I am truely honoured to have a response from you, I am a faithful follower of your so many posts.
I surely have adopted Akeeba around 10 years ago. Though for database only, so I prefer to manage files manually with FTP. My process copying TEMPLATE-DIR/custom is working, so topic solved !
