You'd need to ask your hosting company about their PHP config for that PHP version. PHP change things and MAMP configure things too - I wouldn't describe it as an issue, it's just a configuration item. Some hosts will configure lots of memory, some won't, some will default it to maximum, some won't etc etc.
Anyway, you know the line that you need to resolve the symptom that you had.
