Getting an error on my Gantry 5 site. running Joomla 3.9.16 Helium template
First thought it might have been a bad line in my customer css. Removed the css file completely but no change.
Then tried to switch the template to Protostar but still nothing loads.
Any idea what might have caused this and what I can do to try and fix it?

I scan read your custom.scss file and found three mistakes... I am not saying it's this for sure but they certainly won't help.

Thanks for pointing those out. Don't think it is those as when I totally removed all css the issue still happened.

Ugh, I found it! You've upgraded PHP version to PHP 7.4.2 and Gantry 5 is not yet compatible with that version. Downgrade back to PHP 7.3.x.

Thats odd as the current version of PHP has not just changed. It is even already out of date too.
The other version of the site W-DEV is running the same PHP version. That is not causing an issue. - This image is hidden for guests.

Gantry 5 will not work on PHP 7.4.2 - you need to downgrade to PHP 7.3.x - I am sure that will fix the issue.

That is odd as I have been running all 3 sites on this PHP version during bhild for last month and not had an issue until now.
My servers are on Linode and need to get some help to sort the PHP. - This image is hidden for guests.

Ok, let me know after you have downgrade and what the result is. If you compiled previously on PHP 7.3.x then the site will apparently carry on working on PHP 7.4.x until the next recompile takes place (manual or automatic) - then the site will fail in the compile process at that point.

rolled PHP back to 7.3.15 and site up and running again
cant believe it as two other identical sites as stagings sites running on identical servers are still up and running and have been for weeks.
guess the only reason this site failed was becasue it was used a bit more as we were working mainly on this site
hopefully an update to Gantry will not be too far away so we can ensure we are ready for the next version of php
