1. Use Joomla smartsearch in Joomla 4 which can be used as a module.
2. I'd actually remove the joomla "Search" plugin altogether in Joomla 4
3. Just don't use our "search" particle at all in Joomla 4 (but if you really want to you would need to create a particle override and alter the url it create to use smart search instead and alter the parameters passed to it). To learn how to override a particle in Gantry 5 please see our documentation here http://docs.gantry.org/gantry5/tutorials/overriding-particle-settings#overriding-particle-source-files .
