SOLVED Gantry v5.5.17 Permissions Issues: Advanced Module Manager

Posted 6 months 1 day ago
    • Joomla 4.4.0
      PHP 8.2
      Gantry v5.5.17

After installing the Gantry v5.5.17 update, the Regular Labs extension, Advanced Module Manager stopped executing User Group Permissions checks on modules.

      No errors are being thrown.

I reinstalled Gantry v5.5.16 and everything is working again.

    • Did you flush all caches?

AMM or 3rd party module support would outside the scope of support here. We would need to see some sort of error log or debug log that indicated where the issue is.

    • Yes, all caches were flushed.

      Very interesting:
The UPDATE to v5.5.17 was done through the system update extensions page.

This time, I uploaded the v5.5.17 package manually.

The Group Permissions are working now. No issues.

I saw another thread about incomplete installation through the update.
      Perhaps this is what happened.

    • Very weird, thanks for the report, I'll let the right folks know.

      Glad it's working now.

    • Yes, working in Joomla 4.4.0 but not working in Joomla 5.

      In Joomla 5:
Here is what I did. This is repeatable.

The same Advanced Module Manager was not working, as described.
I then changed the template to Cassiopia, as a test.
      Advanced Module Manager worked perfectly.

BUT, when I then switched back to the RocketTheme theme, Studious, Advanced Module Manager started working.
      It continues to work.

      I don't get it.

    • Does AMM have a debugger you can turn on to try and get some logs as to what's happening under the hood? Ultimately we cannot support nor promise that Gantry will work with all 3rd party plugins.

Gantry is open source and as such has a detailed change record of what files were updated and how between versions on GitHub

      github.com/gantry/gantry5/commits/develop

If AMM is throwing an error or otherwise has debug info related to a particular Gantry file we can look at the change history on that specific file and see what's what.

Im not super familiar with AMM but I know it was very popular in the Joomla 2.5 days in allowing you to render Joomla modules in a variety of non-standard ways. I'm pretty sure you can achieve all the same functionality utilizing Gantry Outlines and the Position Particle.
