  • Module instance : I see my module when not selected in admin Joomla

    • Hi

      I need a confirmation about Module instance. Bug or trick ?

      Via Module instance in a specific Outline, dedicated to a specific menu, I select a module (ID)

      If for this module, joomla management, on menu assignement options, I choose :

      1) All ==> I see my module - OK

      2) No pages ==> I don't see the module - OK

      3) Only on page selected - OK

      But for last option, on all pages except those selected, if I select all pages I see my module ??? . If I select the specic menu assign in Outline, i see my module too. It is not logical

      can you clarified

      Yes that last one is odd but it is logical. This is typically how we select the menu pages assigned to our module -> "Only on the pages selected"

      So here using "Only on the pages selected" the module will appear on my Home and RSP FeatureShowcase menu pages.

      Lets try to duplicate the above, module appearing on my Home and RSP FeatureShowcase menu pages, using "On all pages except those selected".

      It helps to understand it better if you say "My module should appear On all pages except those selected" or better yet "My module should NOT appear On all pages selected". These two statements are the SAME. So in my picture all menu pages that are Selected will NOT show our module. The two menu pages unselected, Home and RSP FeatureShowcase menu pages, will show my module.

      I give you an exemple

      In a test layout (assign to menu "test") I select
      Module instance - a picture
      Module position (ma position) - most view article
      In header postion

      Now I go to Joomla! module management
      In the 2 ex below, For each module I use the same menu assignement

      1) Only on page selected = test

      OK - I can see my two modules on the test page

      2) On all pages except those selected = test

      Not OK - I see only one module on my page

      the module instance (picture)

      Logically with the same parameters (menu assignement) none of these 2 modules should be available on my test page.
      It seems that Module instance don't follow same rule in that case

      This actually means it won't display on the test page but will on all others not checked. See my example again above to understand this kind of backwards sounding logic.

      I setup my local Hydrogen to exactly duplicate your test setup and on mine it worked perfectly. I'll try to sort out why yours doesn't.
