Applying CSS to one web page, assigned to copy of outline

  • Applying CSS to one web page, assigned to copy of outline

    • In classes named to the body tag of a web page, I see that the name of the theme outline is assigned as a class (examples = g-default,
      g-home-particles). In my case, using gantry 5 helium, I made a copy of the theme outline "Home - Particles". In my copy of the outline, I see the class g-home-particles assigned to pages assigned to my copy of the outline. Is there a place where I can rename this class? I have renamed the new(copied) outline, but that does not change the class assigned when this outline is assigned to a menu page. I hope this is making sense.

      I do see I can assign a body ID to any outline, so maybe that is really all I need to identify that page for additional css. Is that the better logic?

      Very specifically, I was interested in pointing to this style:
      .g-home-particles.g-helium-style #g-navigation .g-social a {color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0.5);}
      and changing the color.

      So, I suppose I could just add a custom style rule. I just wondered if/how I could change the class name "g-home-particles" since I was using a copy (not the original) of that outline.

      Thanks, Vicky

    • The "copied" outline name is "Helium - Home Only". I basically took the Helium - Home Particles outline and copied it (to keep the original for my reference). It is assigned to the home page, and because the social icons are set to white on that outline, they don't show (I have a white background on that page).

      I also could not figure out how/why the social icons were set to white and seemed to be connected to the class g-home-particles. I fixed that by creating a custom ID for that outline, but have commented that custom css out so you can see how it is w/o customization. On the outline used for all the other pages, the custom icons are green, the same green assigned to a tags in the base outline.

      I am finally starting to get accustomed to gantry 5 and starting to really appreciate it. It is now finally more interesting and helpful than frustrating. Yay!

    • Sincerest apologies for the late reply.

      The title has to be edited via the layout.yaml file for the class to change (see attached).

      I have edited it as shown so now the class is g-home-only.

    • Thank you for that information. That is helpful. No worries about the delay. I live in NC, USA and we have been pretty overwhelmed with Hurricane Florence. Fortunately for us, our home is fine, but we were all without power during the wind and rain!
