Is there any reason to put the cart in front of the carrot?
every week on freenode the status of J 1.6 is reviews also user can ask us about update and there question concern #joomla-ask-the-team
you can use your favorite IRC program or log via freenode web chat.
From what I seen so far it only a matter of new xml version and maybe code change.
Once J1.6 is release there will be more news here about it.
We are after all on beta 1 this mean 2 more at least to go than 2 rc before stable version.
Trust me this rt are fast with new upgrade just need to see how fast J 1.0 was converted to J 1.5
