I loathe Transmenu.
I have a project that seems like it will never end, and I had to use Transmenu to get the look that my client wanted, and that their original graphic designer had specified, and although it looks pretty, a very large amount of the functionality of Joomla! had to be compromised in order to get the look. I'm using SWmenu Pro, and Sean White gives really good support for his product, but, that being said, even if he were to offer the pro version free to RocketTheme, I still would urge Andy not to make it part of any templates. Anyone who has ever spent hours redoing their tweaked divs just to get Transmenu working will know what I mean.
I like Suckerfish. It works, it does 99% of what any menu really ever needs to do.
However, for projects where I have the say so, I am trying to try to get away from drop down menus altogether. I think that drop down menus are a symptom of poor organization for most sites, and they confuse a certain percentage of surfers who are not comfortable with rapidly cruising through drop downs to find what they are looking for.
Perfection usually means giving someone a handful of clearly laid out navigational choices on any one top level page.
Of course, that's just my opinion, I could be wrong.
