    • Is it possible to use two different installs of Joomla on the same overall root folder sharing the same user database and JomSocial plugin.

      The idea would be to have two overall different sites, but have the community integrated. Thanks

    • Each copy of Joomla requires its own separate folder and database, either in the root or a sub folder or sub domain.

      AFAIK, there's no way to shay to share a community between installs.

      The reason I am asking is because my company involves two sections and I would like each section to differ considerably... almost like two different websites.

      Yes, you can install another template and assign different menus to different templates.
