The thing that tripped me up the first time that I installed Joomla (or was it mambo?) was that it wasn't clear that I had to create an sql database before installing. You may want to make note of that. - The member formerly known as Roland Deschain

Ah-Ha! Which leads me to my next dumb question. Any help would be great, I may even find it somewhere. BUT -
1. I downloaded the latest joomla zip file and extrated to a directory locally.
2. I uploaded it to my.com/joomla/
3. i browsed for my.com/joomla/ and nothing is there.
4. Now - i created 1 db in myphpadmin or better using Enism control panel before hand.
Not sure where to go next - most tut seem to go though cPanel i must be missing something somewhere
Not sure.
Help you can see a big one.

Yeah, cant get going as i unzipped this file
Joomla_1.0.0_to_1.0.12-Stable-Patch_Package.zip
to my local computer and ftp it to my site. Cant get this file to show up www.my.site.com/installation/index.php to show up its a 404.
looked and dont have an installation folder in the download or the zip file.

is it the wrong zip file. Not sure how to download the .tar files is it the same?
