    Display: None and SEO

Posted 14 years 9 months ago
    • So I was thinking last night....

In terms of SEO, many times using display: none in css is used by some "black hat" SEOs for keyword stuffing and hidden links.

However, it's also used quite often on this board and others as recommendations for making modifications for components and modules to get the display the way the user wants it.

So has anyone looked at the SEO consequences of using css to hide divs that are producing links and text?

Google webmaster guidelines frown on using display: none as they liken it to white text on a white background.

I realize for most sites this is a very small issue, but just something I was thinking about.

      Any thoughts?

      Cheers,

      Rich
