      hi claude,

thanks for sharing your solution, i have tried it but unfortunately it did not seem to work for me.

that's the omnicron rocketlauncher with joomfish 2.0.4 and latest roknavmenu.

when i apply the above change, then the parameters (system) and parameters (component) translation options disappear and i am not getting an extra text field to translate the subtext.

would you mind taking another look if the change is really correctly posted?

      thanks a lot, kat :)

You're right I made a mistake, try this instead and you'll have a textarea with all parameters in ini format, find the line fusion_item_subtext= and add your subtext :
      <field type="textarea" name="params" translate="1">params</field>

thanks for pointing it out Kat. I'll edit my previous post.

    • Hi JEM,
I understand your points and it makes total sense. I also understand PCNW as well as I was also disappointed to find out near the end of a project (we translate at the end not the begining usually) that there was no means to translate these subtitle. When your client has seen this feature in a demo it is always akward to tell them they won't get it because they have a bilingual site !

We are just saying as we have to develop bilingual sites it is frustrating we won't be able to use all the features you guys are developing, such as your new rokfeaturetable in omnicron which use a cool javascript to fill in the table into the params... but at the same time makes it impossible to have it translated - the only solution I see would be to tweak the javascript to let two instances of this script on same page but you are using compacted javascript, so no way to tweak it.

I think it is important you know these limitations we encounter. I would like to know it if I were in your shoes. But then it is ok if you decide to not take these into account when improving your templates, it is your choice as an entrepreneur.

As I don't drive a mercedes because I can't afford changing tires on it, maybe one day I won't be using your templates as I can't use their features, not that their not the best out there. It is just I won't have any use for it or money and time to tweak them.

Keep the good work as you always did, if you were not important for us, we wouldn't be disappointed and would just go off to other template providers.
      Best regards,

I'm sure that anything RT produces can be made 100% J!F compatible

At some point in the development of your site, whether it is for a client or yourself, you have to decide if what you want to do is a 'must have' and can be billed to the client or if it is worth spending the money on development costs for yourself.

Or if you don't mind rolling up your sleeves, you can try to create the files yourself. I've found the Joom!Fish community and support quite helpful.

If you are a bit familiar with coding, there are some tutorials for creating them, for example:

      www.joomfish.net/en/documentation/develo...-of-content-elements

      www.joomfish.net/en/documentation/developer-docs

And certainly since it's their component, you'll get better support for it on their forum.

Anyway, I think this thread has run its course, so I'm going to close it.

    • The solution from Claude is quite painless...

      <field type="textarea" name="params" translate="1">params</field>

    • The solution with the change in the menu.xls works now. It turns out you have to clear the Joomla cache after changing the settings.

But now, a new problem exists: After doing that on a site that had already been translated, I lost ALL meta page title translations in the menu items. They have all been reset to the original English meta titles, for all languages. And I cannot see any parameters where I can translate the page titles. Can someone tell me how I can set the meta page titles (which in the original language are defined by "Parameters System / Page Titles" when I use the workaround?

Btw, I agree with the previous poster(s) that this is something that I would have expected from the Rocket Template programmers - for Gantry to work 100% with Joomfish. I do accept the fact that it is impossible to make templates work with all Joomla extensions, but considering the fact that I would estimate that at least 30-50% of the admins run at least one multilingual website using Joomfish, this would be the one extension that should have been considered in the gantry-based templates. Basically, not being able to use Joomfish fully renders the templates useless for most webmasters IMHO.

Claude's solution works like a charm here too (J1.5.23, RT template, JoomFish 2.1.17).

And the "page title translations" is in the "page_title" param for me.
