I tried searching the forums but couldn't find a definite answer.
Anyways, I just noticed that with many new computers running on newer operating systems such as Windows 7 , Ubuntu 10.04, the recommended (standard) resolution set for the users screens are pretty huge... For a couple of months I'm like no sweat... however when looking at my analytics, I'm seeing an increasing number of people using larger resolutions which I think makes them see my site slim at the sides and not optimal for viewing....
I'm using 1064X768 on my 23 inch PC and my sites looks great... however according to my analytics reports, I get people viewing with 1280X800, 1366X768, 1920X1200, and 1680X1050... I'm starting to think that many people who buy new computers set at these resolutions don't bother to change their screen resolutions... which makes many sites viewed or may I say slim at the sides... I can easily fix this by changing the resolution of my computer but I'm wondering if the RT templates can somewhat automatically adjust to the resolution of the user??? I don't know how this all works but thought I just ask! :cheesy:

You can change the width of the pre-Gantry templates to a % of the user's screen width (e.g. 95% would leave a fairly narrow strip of the background graphic or colour on both sides of the website on all screens). But the Gantry-based templates are set at 960 pixels. If you search in these forums, you will find ways to recode the template for a higher screen width, but you can't do it by any of the settings in the template back-end.
There have been a lot of threads on the issue of screen and template width in these forums that can be found using the Search facility..
Just noticed this right now but when visiting the backend of my site, the administrator template fits my screen regardless of a large resolution... the only change is the size of the text but the temlate automamically adjust to the sides of my screen.
Anybody know how to do that with RT templates for the front end??
perhaps as a little note on this
The values in the analystics dont mean that visitors actually use 100% of the monitor for their browser windows. I have myself a 2500px-something screen and have 2 windows open side by side most of the time ...
Also look in the member-submissions for my dynamic width changers for some templates.
They enable you to change the width via the gantry-settings in the template ...but not fluid.
