I believe that in the JSMF administration area in your joomla backend, you have to select which method your users will be registering from on the frontend of your joomla! site. Have you chosen joomla registration as these means? Because I visited your site and did some perusing of the bridge and that is what I saw was that you had registration on the frontend set to Joomla! registration.
So once you get your JSMF settings organized the way you like, you should then be able to login from either SMF or Joomla! and be logged into the other respectively. This is what i've come to understand in my limited use of the bridge, but I have used it and am using it on my site @
JCWarrior.net
I have attempted the discussbot before but I don't think I was ever able to get it to show up under content articles as I was hoping it would. It would more like just create a new forum board and the discussion would solely take place there. So if I can help at all, please feel free to ask.
O.K., I'm stuck. I'm trying everything I can think of and experimenting with all of your suggestions and nothing is happening. Not sure how to do any real diagnostics without any feedback mechanism. Looked for some sort of error log but didn't see anything. Grrrr.
Any chance one of you guys would have time to have a look at the back end to see if anyhing jumps out at you? I've set up a temp admin login (e-mail or PM for login This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.). Feel free to change things if you know what you are doing! The site is at

I'm not sure if it matters now, but I'd like to eventually have something like Kevin's login process where you have to type in letters from a graphic and you can read a bit of text outining TOS and that sort of thing. Would also like to require the use of real names (the login module seems to like to use "username" as a prompt no matter what the settings. Very importantly, I plan on installing the discussbot after I get this part working.
I would recommend editing your post an removing the username and password. This is a public board and anyone can see. Maybe change it to a PM request for the details if someone wants to help
I think the majority of what you're looking to modify once you do get SMF setup is editable through the admin section of your forum. ie registration agreement(TOS), Image verification, etc.
Also is there a reason you are using the default joomla login instead of the jsmf_mod_login? I attached the mod_smf_login that comes with the joomlahacks bridge package. You can try it or visit
JSMF
and get the complete package there as well. You gotta be logged in to get the file. But that package which you've probably already downloaded has everything that you'll need to integrate your smf forum.
O.K., installed the Joomlahacks login module--Yikes!--the site crashes with a fatal error. But heck, at least it is feedback! It partially loads and then:
Joomla-SMF Login
Fatal error: Class 'jsmfFrontend' not found in /home/.camille/darinb/montarafog.com/Joomla/modules/mod_smf_login.php on line 107
I just figured it out (how many hours did I spend on this?). One of those stupid errors!
In the component installation area for the bridge there are those three or four clickable text lines (i.e. patch files, synch username or real name), right? Well, on my computer the whole line is clickable. When you do so there is sometimes a quick "reaction" by the browser that gave me the impression that something happened. What I really needed to do, it turns out, is click on the first part of the text line where it said "click to patch." Not the most user-friendly thing you can think of but funny in hindsight...
Glad you were able to get it figured out. Don't you hate those obvious fixes. Those costly, obvious, fixes. lol Good luck, and if you need any more help don't hesitate to ask.
