Have read hundreds of posts, can't find answer to questions involving "forests" rather than "trees".

Versatility4 has the huge advantage that the client loves the color background flush module suffixes. But V4 can't get the Search and "Receive" modules under the Slideshow right column. (The module suffix goes away if it's not in left, right, or inset positions, or else the modules don't line up correctly, etc.)
Any of the Gantry templates would be superior for layout, obviously, but I can't find any evidence that getting a flush module with color background is doable in Gantry templates. The old RT templates sometimes had a "flush" suffix, but the Gantry ones don't seem to have anything similar.
So the question is, will it be more trouble trying to get the "flush module" effect put into a Gantry template and take the two hours to move the content to new Gantry positions, or to try to force Versatility4 to line up per the picture?
Between a rock and a hard place here. Any helpful thoughts would be mightily appreciated!
