changing the page name in address bar

This is a general question - when I go to any page on any of my sites I get something like this:
www.jimfidler.com/naf/index.php?option=c...80&Itemid=66&lang=fr
Which looks kind of tangly, how can I change that to be just the url and then the page name for example:
www.jimfidler.com/naf/about us (something like that)

goto your root directory and usually their is a .htaccess and a htaccess.txt file
renameto.htaccess
old_htaccess
and renametohtaccess.txt
.htaccess
Then in your admin back-end goto global configuration
set
Search Engine Friendly URLs to YES
Use Apache mod_rewrite to YES
As long as your running apache,

correct. Although I would suggest a very informative article from Google that may end up changing the way you look at SEF URLs.
