Turning Modules on and Off

There are a number of components out there that allow you to turn modules on and off based on different criteria.
I'm using Crystalline and would like the ability to turn on and off certain modules depending on the login status of the current user.
Does anyone have any recommendations for this type of requirement and Rockettheme / Gantry templates?

- How about using Metamod or Advanced Module Manager extension?
