Request for Joomla 1.6 Compatible Releases

Good afternoon,
I wanted to see if I could make a request for the release of a Joomla 1.6 compatible version of the Maelstrom template.
I'm really glad you guys finally added a fixed menu capability into this version, and overall I'm pleased with the clean look of this design, but I really must develop the new site for the college on Joomla 1.6 (mainly for the ACL capability and enhanced content system, among other features). Rather than rely on 3rd party extensions (e.g. K2) I would much rather have a decent standard system for this new site.
Additionally, I don't know how much this is the case for others (probably not for many of them), but here we've built a number of custom extensions that integrate with our school's database so we don't really rely on any 3rd party Joomla 1.5 extensions. The main thing I need, is a decent, full-featured template to start the bulk of the work in building the site (it's just difficult to do when there aren't any 1.6 compatible releases out yet).
So if there's anything you guys can do to help me out, and I'm sure a few others may wish for the same, I'd definitely appreciate it

RT philosophy on releasing stuff reminds me of the Paul Masson commercial with Orsen Wells, 'We will sell no wine until it's time'.
As mentioned in the blog post, it won't be ready until it's ready, and even when the templates are released, you have to consider if your 3rd party components are compatible as well.
(No sense in releasing some half baked versions of the template with which you would have to go through several versions to get things working right, this would only add to your frustration along with adding an additional workload for the mods and team.)

I understand both sides of this argument, having been on both sides of the fence many time over many years, but I think (at least for myself), a time frame for RT themes would be helpful.
I'm not suggesting that we're going to converted everyone to 1.6 tomorrow because it's out, but it is the next version that new projects will likely be using, and some idea of when RT templates can fit into the timeline is critical to planning the projects

- As the blog post from Andy Miller stated the DEV team is already working on it and will be starting with the most recent templates (i.e. all gantry templates) and working backward from there. Since Maelstrom is the most recent release. It should be soon.

We're working as fast as we can on providing 1.6 support. The order things will progress in are as follows:
1) Gantry core framework (90% complete)
2) Gantry core template (90% complete)
3) "Key" extensions that the majority of our templates make use of (75% complete)
4) Conversion of Gantry-based templates working backwards from most recent to oldest (requires #1, #2, and #3)
5) Conversion of older pre-Gantry based templates (requires #3)
Needless to say we have been working hard on 1,2 and 3 and are nearly there. As soon as we have these finished and they have passed our internal testing and quality control inspections, we'll be releasing them. Trust me we are not sitting on our heels here. We just have pushed the boundaries in Joomla 1.5 so converting to 1.6 is not as trivial for us as it may be for others.
We'll be very public about development status and availability, have no fear.

Thank you good sir, and please do not read anything negative into my replies here - I love you guys. There are a lot factors in play, and I certainly understand the complexities of being part of the "jigsaw puzzle of harmony"
Is there a single point of reference to be able to gauge when things may begin to become available? I'm never quite sure where to look for the final word vs. a discussion on a particular matter.
