    Turning off sub menus

Posted 14 years 4 months ago
    • Hello,

I have a site menu structure like this:

      -Parent Item
      -- Child Item
      --- Grand Child Item
      ---- Grand Grand Child Item

I only would like to display the Parent Items in the top horizontal menus and I make separate menus (menu link) to be shown in the right side pane.

Some months ago I had posted in here (before I decided I needed Grand Child and Grand Grand Child Items) and asked how can I turn off the Child Item. I got the needed help and the child Item was turned off.

But then when I decided I needed Grand Child and Grand Grand Child menu items, I notice I have the same problem now again that they are showing.

      So here is an example:
      http://02aaea2.netsolhost.com/joomla/en/technology/how-does-reverse-osmosis-work.html

You can see on the right pane, there is the same menu twice! The top one is the one that is part of "mainmenu" from my versatility 4 template which I want turned off and the bottom one is the menu link menu which is the only one I want shown.

In this particular instance what you are looking at is a Grand Child, I would like the submenus to not show or be disabled for both Grand Child and Grand Grand Child.

I played with my template_css.css for hours and still could not figure it out, someone please help

    • Seems Arifin replied here:

I moved your topic to the proper forum, as that's where it belongs.

      Hi Jem,

      Thanks for your reply.

I plan on resubscribing, I have 2 more pages I need to do. However, please not that I could have EASILY downloaded your templates from piratebay and got them without paying the 50 USD. However, I noticed that you guys are doing a great job on support and your products are also great and wanted to pay the 50 USD to support you guys. As an example I can't remember the last time I paid for a CD, Movie or a copy of photoshop.

Anyway, it seems to me that your comment was a little out of line. I am (or was) a paying customer and you moved my comment to a board that I no longer have subscription for. I have a full time job and can only spend about 4-5 hrs a week on this site (and am a complete newb). Your subscription understanding of 2-3 months for slow newb "developers" like me is a little unfair but hey, no complaints.

      A) Yes, you can get the templates from warez sites, but you 1) don't know how they have changed the code or if the files are infected with some virus / trojan 2) If you are illegally D/Ling the template, you still don't have access to the template specific forums when you have a question. And yes, we are doing a great job on support for current members.

      B) The cost of a subscription (as noted in the post I linked) is far lower than you would expect to pay for 1-2 hours of a developers time.

As I said, Arifin has replied, and I moved your post to the proper forum according to the forum rules.

Honestly, I don't see how this is wrong or 'out of line'.

I can't find one company on the net the offers perpetual support or works for free.

      Anwyay,

I reposted the problem on the general discussion with links to an example and much better articulation of the problem statement. I would appreciated if

      1) you do not move it or delete it
      2) if you move it you send me an invite to the board you moved it to

Closing this thread as it was solved in the V4 forums.
