Dominion Template, incredibly slow, fatal error if cache ena

    • Hi. Newbie here. I have a site using Dominion template which ran fine on localhost (MAMP) but once deployed to web host is very slow (up to 30 seconds page load) so i enabled gzip (no real difference and tried all the tricks, like setting database handling to none etc. No joy. So I tried enabling cache... This solved another client sites slow performance so i was hopeful. But now I get a mostly blank page (it loads the words 'text size' from the font sizer) with this message:

Fatal error: Class 'JFile' not found in D:\gingergraphicdesign.com\wwwroot\modules\mod_roknavmenu\lib\renderers\RokNavMenu1XRenderer.php on line 168
Roknavmenu is 2.8 and can't be uninstalled (its ghosted out in the uninsatll modules page).

Latest version of Gantry installed, all seems in order... but no site. Other Joomla installations run fine on the same host servers (Redfox).

If this can't be fixed its a deal breaker-can anyone advise me please as I love the template.

    • Seems you got some serious problems there. Is the site shared?
Since it could be that the performance issue are, and also permission problems.
You can delete the folder of RokNavMenu and try to reinstall it.

      But i should reinstall rocketlauncher

    • Thank you for response. Serious indeed.
By 'shared'; do you mean is the site on shared server space (as opposed to being on a dedicated server?) (Sorry for my possible ignorance.) If that is what you mean I am a reseller for the hosting company but not on dedicated server. Site url is gingergraphicdesign.com if that helps.
To delete roknavmenu I would have to do it via ftp as it can't be done via Joomla back end. Wil try reinstalling rocketlauncher.

    • I have reinstalled everything completely-deleted the whole site and restored the localhost version via Akeeba. Now cache is enabled, and no fatal error message, but the speed problem is no better. Home page load time is 22 seconds. Gzip is on and legacy turned off. There are no obvious things like big images etc. I always optimise image size etc (use Dreamweaver). The host is good, and runs other Joomla sites no problem. I'm forced to conclude this is looking more and more like Dominion is just a big unweildy template. Feels like it just staggers along. The whole point of using such a visually impressive template was to wow clients with my site. This does the reverse. Sorry guys but If this turns out to be the case and can't be sorted I'm not renewing my membership. I've taken the site down because my clients will get such an poor impression of my company.

Yes, i mean about just your server on the hosters network could be overloaded.
I personally using a dedicated server mostly because i have integrated Joomla and Magento with eachother and Magento got some high requirements.

I did a test and the general speedtest where 22secs
      tools.pingdom.com/fpt/?url=http://ginger...ign.com//&id=3732171

Which is pretty slow, i have websites with joomla and rt templates that load on less than 2 secs.

If i where you, and you really want to have the design.
You should consider a new host.
