    • That's kinda bad still since he almost got no content on the frontpage. I got lots, API's Javascript features and so on. And over 100 menu items and my load is 8secs and i feel that is too bad.

Very true, now that you mention it :P I think it could be the fact that the OP is on a shared server. I'm on a pretty fast dedicated virtual, maybe you should consider upgrading, martinjbull? Though I'm still not convinced that is the issue, it could be something else. Even on a shared server, 10 seconds+ is slow.

Atleast with that kinda content, since i got high amounts of content and graphics.
So still, it could also be some missconfiguration at your installation, permissions, outdated softwares on server and so on. It could be many things.

    • Yeah.. maybe you should try installing RokGZipper, martinjbull. It worked wonders for my site, probably increased the speed by about 50% if not more.. Oh, and enable caching if you haven't done so already, that should help.

    • RokGzipper intalled... cache on etc. All reinstalled etc. Done/tried everything. Site is rubbish in terms of speed. All my other Joomla installation sites run fine. I do genuinely appreciate the advice but to have to change host (and I would not want to start migrating all my other client's sites elsewhere too) because one template has problems does not stack up for me. Time to say 'good bye Dominion' I think.

    • It's maybe a good choice. But if i where you and handle client's website. You should really consider getting an dedicated server. Nowadays it's good prices on dedicated servers, my company that i own have bought a part of a server hall.

But to buy a good single dedicated server just costs like $300-500 setup costs. and about $100-300 per month. It's not directly alot of money for alot of power.

    • I took another look, and I honestly don't think its the Dominion template itself...

It takes about 5 seconds +, for the domain to actually connect, but the template loads pretty fast. Do you get what I mean? Once the site is loaded for the first time, it takes me about 2/3 seconds to load the homepage again if I refresh.

This is what I would suggest:

Sign up on a free online host, such as 000webhost, or byethost, and try installing a RocketLauncher version of Dominion on one of those. If you notice a slight speed increase, or notice that the template loads fast once it's cached in your browser, then it is likely to be your server that is causing the slow load, maybe your host is just slow. I can't think of what else, other than some kind of misconfiguration. If the site loads faster on one of those free hosting services, then it is most obviously your host, as free hosts generally take longer than paid hosts. If that's the case, I'd suggest you look into switching to an alternative host. Hosting24 provides a reasonably priced, fast reseller plan.

If you want to aim higher than a shared server, then go for a Dedicated Virtual server at Media Temple. They're very quick and easy. www.mediatemple.net/ I believe Hosting 24, and maybe Media Temple, can transfer your current sites for free when you sign up with them. I signed up with Media Temple some time ago but I don't even remember whether I had my site moved over.. haha.
