I uploaded two Gantry templates and now have problems

    • My site worked fine using Afterburner. Then I uploaded Panacea and Somaxium (bundle). Even with Afterburner as default, I started having problems: JCE not showing toolbox, and jEvents Add Event link not working.

I uninstalled Panacea and Somaxium, and JCE started working again, as did Add Events. But in jEvents the plus sign in the corner of calendar cells no longer displays (for adding events) when an administrator is logged into the front end.

I deleted com_gantry, but that didn't change the "plus sign problem."

I'm creeped out because I don't know how much other lurking mischief lingers on the site. I suspect that I violated the warning not to upload a template bundle when a gantry template is already installed.

Is there anything I should do to delete gantry remnants (or other possible culprits) that may remain on my site as a result of having installed multiple templates (besides restoring the site to a previous backup state)?

      Thanks,

      Jim

    • Afterburner is not a Gantry template...

I'd suggest installing one template bundle, then the other as a stand alone (in order of release), or the Gantry framework, then the template stand alones.

    • Panacea and Somaxium are separate....

I would install the bundle for one, then the standalone for the other...

Or the Gantry framework, then the standalone for each...

    • And also update Gantry itself to it's latest version

    • I want to use only Afterburner (non-gantry) on this site. And I want to clean up the corruption that was apparently caused by my installing two other test templates (both with Gantry).

At this point, it looks like I'll have to ask the host to restore a backup.

Any other advice to rescue this site before I resort to a restoration (and lose a bunch of work)?

    • I have search the forums for possible solutions, but I can't find a solution for this.

Normally a template does not affect a site as you have described.

At this point, you may have to revert to a previous back up to get up and running again.

Before you do so, you may want to copy the content you added to the site after installing the templates, (unless you already have copies on your computer) that way, after a restore, you can copy and paste the content back easily.

      For future reference,

With a good back up system in place you can revert to a working version within a matter of minutes.
