Anyone know what these boxes are that appear in Internet Explorer?

Hi,
These weird boxes (like a ghost image) appear where the logo and copyright notice (a graphic) are... they only appear in Internet Explorer but not in Firefox. Any suggestions?

This is what my site is showing and I have blank.png in my directory:
(only shows in IE 7)

Also how can I remove the blue border from around my apply, adobe, and flash buttons?
