i'm in agreement with the fact that tachyon was mis-advertised. only tachyon for joomla 1.5 is acceptable. i had no problems with that and it was pretty much perfect.
but the problem comes when you decide to upgrade to joomla 1.6/1.7, or want to even start a 1.6/1.7 site from scratch. it's a horrible, horrible process. yes, it's very possible and pretty simple to install tachyon on a joomla 1.7 site and create your site without any problems. but it's almost impossible to create a 1.7 site from scratch and achieve the same feel as tachyon is advertised on the RT demo site. i actually had to look through a bunch of files for tachyon for 1.5 and match up code with the 1.7 template to make it look even remotely similar. modules are just a complete pain as well. i feel sorry for anyone who's purchased this template and is not experienced in css and php in the least.
after installing tachyon 1.7 using the bundle package, i was literally forced to re-install joomla, this time using joomla 1.5, using the rocketlauncher as there is no rocketlauncher for 1.7. painful and horrible, even as a 10year+ web developer who's used countless rockettheme templates in the past for multiple CMSs. and then the problem of jomsocial comes in... oh god. i had to downgrade from the latest version of jomsocial to 2 main versions down, so members could even register...
yesterday i decided it was finally time for me to just suck it up and upgrade to 1.7 from 1.5 though... which is what i did, but i have countless issues, i'm seriously racking my brains to sort these stylesheets out as they are all conflicting with eachother and theres just so many bugs and differences between 1.5 and 1.7 versions of the template. i just managed to get the homepage looking similar enough to what it used to look like on J1.5... and the website consists of almost 300 pages excluding news articles. :shock: :shock:
there's no doubt that RT provide a good service and amazing templates, tachyon itself is a really great template, but i just wish that things were compatible and instead of rushing around trying to constantly convert templates like the RT team are doing, they would devote more time to actually ensure the true compatibility, and provide rocketlaunchers for every, single, single, single, template they provide. that is the only way to avoid complaining customers, because then they get EXACTLY what they see on the demo site. exact replicas of what is seen is what's expected, because that's what RT state on their template demos and elsewhere. it would be stupid to include images with the rocketlaunchers , but RT include placeholders which is perfectly fine. only wish that the templates i really am trying to work with would include that demo content.

it's actually like going to see a movie and nothing but the audio playing. then yes, i would most certainly want a refund. - hunky dory!

Well i do, im not RT staff, im just another member, lie you i subscribe and use the templates.
Ive heavily modified them and gained support for everything from template help, joomla help and general php/css help in the past.
The community on here is great for helping people out, what exactly is missing from the demos when you install them?
Mine always look the same apart from some stock images which are blanked out... - Kiss my RSS

I need to add nothing more other than I agree 100% this Tachyon issue is not really a fair deal. I've been here for years too and this pissed me off. abercrombie here says it all for me.
To answer the last question for Adamck. There is no rocketlauncher for Tachyon that creates a 1.6/1.7 joomla demo site. Only a 1.5x. People wanting this cannot reproduce it quickly or easily and get up and running with the latest Joomla core. Also the 2 versions offered by Rockettheme are worlds apart in how they work. There really is no simple code by code comparison methodology or approach to accomplishing a site that streams about as well as the Tachyon Demo for Jomsocial users. I'm trying it now and it is no picnic. and THERE IS NO STICKIED THREAD UP TOP IN "SOLVED" showing us HOW to exactly do it either!!! which is preposterous really. Thanks for that.
