Having supersucker and suckerfish functionality in horizontal menu?

  • Having supersucker and suckerfish functionality in horizontal menu?

    • I was wondering if anyone knew of a way to have the supersucker and suckerfish functionality in a menu? What I am looking to do is have a horizontal menu with submenus. When a vistor mouses over a main menu item, it will show the submenu's for that menu item, if they click on the menu item, then it will have the submenu items stay showing. So basically, if you mouse over a main menu item, it will show the sub menus, if you move your mouse away from the menu, the sub menu items will disappear. If you move your mouse over a different menu item, it will show the subs for that menu item. However, if you click on a menu item, then the subs for that menu item will stay showing if you move your mouse away from the menu. Also, if you have clicked a menu item, but move your mouse over a different menu item, that different menu items subs will show, but if you move your mouse away from the menu, then the sub menu items for the menu item that you last clicked on will be showing. Hope that makes sense!LOL

      Thank you,
      David Henderson

    • Does anyone know if this is even possible before I spend the time to try and figure it out?

    • This would take some serious coding to pull off, and then you need to figure in how it works/looks across all browsers. I don't even know if that would be feasible. Possible? Maybe.

In my opinion, the menu systems I use suit me just perfect. If I were you, I would not waste time figuring that combo out. :)

    • Anything is possible but I would not try it unless you are well versed with the basics of coding

I believe he wants the main nav bar to be supersucker but the sub items of supersucker have suckerfish capabilites

    • I thinkhe wants a -vertical- suckerfish.

One in the left or right module columns.

He asked this same question elsewhere as well which Is why I think that.

Ok, going to try and explain what I am looking to do. I am not trying to make it vertical, the menu look I want is like the horizontal button menu on vortex. I am using that on cleanmywater.us at the moment if you want to see what I mean. Now, talking about the button menu here, when you click on a button menu item, it then displays all of the submenu items that go to that parent menu item in the bar under the buttons. When you mouse over one of those buttons, the text of themenu item just changes color slightly. What I am looking to do is improve the mouseover effect of the menu. I want it to show the submenu items of the parent menu item in the bar below the buttons when I mouseover the button. But I want it to remember the last button that was clicked if the mouse pointer is not on any of the button menu items, therefor showing the sub menu items of the last button that was clicked if your mouse is not over one of the buttons for it to show that ones sub men's during mouseover. Does that make sense? The idea here is, we would like our visitors to be able to see what sub menu options there are for each menu item in that menu, without having to click on each button and wait for a page to laod each time. If the sub menu items could be shown on mouseover, then they could just scroll across the buttons and know what options they will have if they click on the button:)

      Thank you,

      P.S.
REALLY good to see you back around YouYou! I have been thinking for a few weeks, if anyone could figure this out, it would be Youyou, too bad he hasn't been around for a while:)

I can see why you would think that, but I have 2 seperate menu issues:) The one you are talking about, I already have in a suckerfish style, but the menu just takes a really long time to load, so I was looking at other menu options hoping I could find one that loaded faster, hence my asking if the moomenu could be setup as a vertical menu:)
