How do I use templates to develop for the iphone

I have not been able to figure out just what the process is for developing a rockettheme template for the iphone is.
Do I need to make the whole site fit on an iphone screen ? or is there some magic that happens to fit it on somehow ?
Need a hint guys.
Bit of a noob question I know .. but I am new at this.
Thanks for any guidance.
