    RocketLauncher and htaccess problem

    Posted 14 years 3 months ago
    • Does anyone know how to rename the htaccess.txt file that is installed with the RocketLauncher package, when your site is hosted on Hostgator VPS? Whenever I try, I get a message that .htaccess already exists.

      I am trying to install JomSocial and can't because the Joomla upload limit is too low at 2MB (it needs to be 3MB).

    • Or, how do you find the php.ini file?

      If you're on a shared environment, you most likely won't have access to the PHP.ini... BUT... you may be able to override the php.ini settings by creating your own php.ini file with the specific setting you want to change in it and upload to your website.

      Alteratively, you are also able to change php.ini settings with the .htaccess file

      I think your FTP app is missing a variable when it loads to show all the files on the server.
      Depending on what app you're using, you need to ensure server side filtering is enabled and add -a as the filter. That will show up the files for you.

    • Thank you for replying, Jason.

      I contacted Hostgator customer support and they created a php.ini file for me which is in my public_html directory now but, it has not increased the maximum file size. Is there anything in the .htaccess file that needs to be edited now that the php.ini file is there?

      Customer support from JomSocial is abysmal and why they created a component (the current 2.0.5 version) that most Joomla users cannot readily use is beyond me.

    • The issue was solved after I changed:

      Maximum size of POST data that PHP will accept.
      post_max_size = 8M

      To 10M in the php.ini file that Hostgator provided.
