Can Akeeba help w/ phpBB3 Backup?

  • Can Akeeba help w/ phpBB3 Backup?

Posted 14 years 2 months ago
    • Looking for Akeeba veterans. I'm moving my sites to a new server and everythings gone perfectly with the first two (gotta' love Akeeba) but my largest site also has phpBB3 RokBridged.

Obviously, Akeeba will backup the directory phpBB3 is installed into, but did it also backup the phpBB3 database? Do I need to backup and transfer phpBB separately of Akeeba? Are there any other special instructions I should be aware of to get my phpBB3 install working properly on the new server? If you've had any experience with this I'd really appreciate your input or advice.

      Thanks in advance!

    • As you mentioned, Akeeba will back up the directory if it is within the Joomla root, however, it will only back up the Joomla DB.

If you have a separate DB for phpBB3, you will have to back that up manually, create a second DB on the new server, then import your backup.

    • Thanks for the help JEM. I manually backed up and transferred my phpBB directory, and after reinstalling the bridge my phpBB now works flawlessly after the transfer. very quick and simple to do.

However, I do have another issue. While phpBB works great my Joomla links do not work. I get a "404 - Component not found" error. I transferred three sites to HostGator, but this error only happens on one of them. Do you have any idea what could be wrong, or what steps I need to take to rectify the issue?

I found my issue, so I thought I'd come back and post it for anyone searching in the future. When I initially set up my site months ago, I edited the .htaccess file to redirect to the www prefix of my site, this needed to be changed until DNS propagation had completed. Good luck.
