Zip file for Template/Gantry Bundle instead of a Tar.gz file
Posted 14 years 3 months ago
I posted to the Paradox forum a day ago, but have not received any response to what I think is a simple enough question:
I need to install the Paradox template, plus the Gantry framework to an existing Joomla installation. According to the download section for that template, I need the following file: Template (Bundle) rt_paradox_j15-bundle.tar.gz - Template plus Gantry Component.
However, for the "Bundle", it downloads a zip file. Specifically, rt_paradox_j15-bundle.zip
The instructions state how to install the tar.gz file, but it will not install the Zip file.
Is the zip file a mistake, or is there some undocumented method I'm supposed to be using, but am not aware of?
After searching various RT Forums, it appears that one method might be to upload the zip file to a subdirectory of my site, and then use the extraction choice within the file manager of CPanel. However, this site is on 1&1, which uses a different control panel that the regular CPanel, so I found an application called WebspaceExplorer that can "unzip" the zip file. However, it asks where it should be unzipped to?
What is the correct method of installing this zip file?
Shouldn't this zip file actually be a tar.gz file?
Please respond. I've been trying to resolve this for two full days at this point so I can proceed.

Hi Henning,
Just tried again, and got the same error (see below), but after you confirmed that I should be able to install the zip file - I knew I was on the right track and kept looking for another problem that might be causing it, and found (and fixed it). So others can refer to what I learned here, I've documented it below:
I noticed your Magento ad in your signature. For someone fairly comfortable with Joomla, how much different is Magento from a structural/mechanical standpoint? I've been interested in it because of the integrated e-commerce capabilities.
Original error message after attempting to install the Paradox Bundle (Gantry plus template) was: Note: I replaced the specific directory name in each below as well:
* Component Install: Another Component is already using directory: "/homepages/20/d210289112/htdocs/directoryhere/components/com_rocketthemeparadoxtemplateforjoomlabundle"
* Component Install: Another Component is already using directory: "/homepages/20/d210289112/htdocs/directoryhere/administrator/components/com_rocketthemeparadoxtemplateforjoomlabundle"
I then looked at the Components section, and found a component called com_rocketthemeparadoxtemplateforjoomlabundle) that had gotten installed, but was disabled for some reaon. I tried enabling that, but that did not work either. So, I then uninstalled the component (getting an error message in the process), but then tried installing the Bundle again, and this time it worked!
I don't know how that component was initially installed and why it didn't work, but at least we solved that problem. Thanks very much for responding so quickly, and sorry about posting template specific to this forum, but I needed more exposure to it to find a solution!
