Trailing Backslash On Joomla URLs

has anyone figured out how to hack Joomla core to add a trailing backslash to URLs?
and example would be www.mysite.com/subfolder/
I have an .htaccess redirect adding the trailing slash now, but the Sitemap generators obviously pick up the URL without the / at the end since that is how Joomla is generating them. This causes Google to see errors in the sitemap because the URL's in the sitemap are being "redirected" to URLs with the / at the end.
