HostGator Spam Problem

    • I couldn't wait to leave BlueHost and move to HostGator, I've heard so many great things about HostGator from people here at RocketTheme. The problem is, any e-mail sent to my sites members with either AOL.com or Verizon.net e-mail addresses gets kicked back as spam.

Working with Verizon and AOL is getting nowhere. I've been working with HostGator for over a month now, they keep telling me they're working on it but I've not seen even the slightest bit of improvement. I know I can leave and go back to BlueHost, but I don't really want to - other than the spam problem I am really enjoying HostGaotor.

Does anyone have experience with this type issue? Have you been able to get it rectified, or know someone who has? Am I just on a bad box at HG, or are entire ranges of their IP's blacklisted?

    • Hi there,

Possibly a bad box. I've been with them for 4 or 5 years and no real problems. Ask to move would be my suggestion.

I know HG often pay to get IP's checked and cleared from some of the spam registers.

By the same token they are quick to stop abusive scripts and you may only just get 24 hours notice if they are going to do this.

      Hope this helps 8)

    • Thanks David. I will ask if HostGator will move me to another box. I don't run any unusual scripts, Akeeba is probably the most intensive script I'm running right now, so shouldn't be any worries there.

I'll post back here to let future searchers know how it goes.

    • HostGator will not move my account to a new box. They will, however, happily accept my credit card number to upgrade to a VPS account, which may or may not solve my problem - they cannot say for sure.

This is very disappointing, I had so been looking forward to moving to HostGator. Now I have to move everything again. Lesson learned...
