Newbie Needs Help "Willing to Pay for it"

  • Newbie Needs Help "Willing to Pay for it"

    • I have installed Joomla several times through Cpanel\Fantastico using my IP. Each time I have installed it everything works fine to begin with. But it seems after I log out and then back in is when a problem occurs.

I'll post an arcitcle and can edit it as many times as I want but if I log out and back in again then when I go to the edit the page the page locks up and displays the post only in what appears as html code on the bottom editor. At the bottom of the page I get an error saying something like this "Done, but with errors" Nothing else works at this point except hitting the back arrow to the previous page and now the post is "locked"

Any help or suggestion would be appreciated. Oh! I have made the recommended files and directories writable. At least the ones I believe are the right ones.

If anyone would like to walk me through it I would "GLADLY" pay you for your time.

      Bryan

    • Can you post a link to the site?
What version of Joomla! is Fantasico installing?

To "unlock" any articles, login to the Admin backend and choose System/ Global Check In. ;) If you have the User Menu displayed, you can also choose the "Check in my Items" link.

      Cheers!

    • You need to click Save each time otherwise it locks it and Roland showed you the way to get around this.

I strongly recommend reading the Joomla! manual at help.joomla.org

The errors are normally from javascript conflicts and if you read the forums, you will most likely find an answer :)

    • I'd be very tempted to delete the Fantastico installation and install Joomla! the old fashioned way by downloading it, uploading it to your server and running the install.

Fyi, the Fantastico that HostGator uses installs Joomla but it sets the wrong path in the config (the site shows up without graphics until the path is changed). Easy to change but a newbie would be very confused.

James! gives good advice (as usual) in that you ought to read the Joomla manual, very useful.

      Cheers and good luck!
