A way to collpse Mainbody?

Hi. I promise I'm using the search function and the Google. Maybe my search terms aren't the best but...
Is there an easy way to collapse the Mainbody position? I happen to be using Joomla 1.6 with a Gantry template. (Tachyon for the moment. )
I've tried turning off "Display Component" and "Display Mainbody" but that didn't do it in this case.
The site I'm starting on is www.opsobudo.com . You'll see the page-width clear rectangle where a front page item would end up.
My goal is to have a modules only front page.
