Using Gantry Rotator with WordPress Panacea

I can get the rotator working, but how do I create special posts that only show in the rotator and how do I get text positioned anywhere but at the very top of the background image?
There used to be a forum showing the demo setup for each theme, but seems like that disappeared and I'm at a loss as to how to get the rotator to do anything than display published posts. Which doesn't work very well, when black text is against a dark image or white text on light image.
