Hi all.
Looking for strategy help from the community. I have a client that wants a full overhaul of their design, yet can't afford any downtime. They don't want to move the new site to a subdirectory, which I can understand, so I'm not sure what to tell them about doing a redesign while keeping their site up. Is this even possible? In the past I'd build a new site for someone on a subdirectory, then when it went live we'd simply redirect traffic and close the old site. I know this screws up their SEO stuff, and all the links to their site out on the web, but I haven't come up with a better method.
1. Use Akeeba Backup.
2. Download the site and install it to your localhost.
3. Do your work.
4. Use Akeeba on your localhost and then upload it to the server. It might be good to close down the site via .htaccess during this process.
I hope this helps.
