Gantry Error with all templates - desperate!

      Joomla 1.6.3
      Gantry 3.2.4
      PHP 5.2
      MySQL

Clean installs of Joomla - everything OK
Clean installs of every combination of RT_Nebulae, RT_Tachyon, bundles, Gantry, etc. - no errors
      All permissions in order
Turned off every possible plug-in and module
      Turned off SEO
      Checked all configs

This error comes up when I try to change ANY SETTING in the template, in all circumstances:

Fatal error: Class 'GantryArrayHelper' not found in /home/assur3/public_html/libraries/gantry/core/utilities/gantryregistry.class.php on line 357

    • Hi there,

I have just created a new install on my Hostgator account and added the Nebulae bundle and I am unable to replicate the problem

When I went to the link you posted I just got a Hostgator 404 page.

Can you PM me with a temporary Super Admin access please and I will take a look to see what the cause may be.

      Thanks :)

    • Minimum requirements for gantry:
      Server Requirements
We try to ensure that any Gantry template and the Gantry Library specifically will work with any modern and secure server environment. The recommended minimum requirements are:

      •PHP 5.2+
      •MySQL 3.23 (5+ recommended)
      •Apache 1.3 (2.2+ recommended)
      •mod_mysql
      •mod_xml
      •mod_zlib
When I set my local server to PHP 5.2.0 I got this error
Warning: SimpleXMLElement::addAttribute() [function.SimpleXMLElement-addAttribute]: Attribute name and value are required in J:\wamp\www\tachyon16\libraries\gantry\core\config\gantryform.class.php on line 1523
but the front end still worked.

If you've met all the other requirements could you get your hoster to upgrade you to PHP 5.2.1x ?

      Hi Dan,

My PHP version is 5.2.16. All LAMP stack versions are very up to date, so that has nothing to do with it. It must be something else going on, not the host service or permissions or LAMP stack.

It seems your Gavick template is making all kinds of JS calls and interfering with the operation of Gantry. Try on your LAMP version uninstalling the Gavick template and I'll bet you a coffee :) that Gantry will function properly.

Well, Dan, I owe you a coffee! Can you enlighten me why this might be happening? Does Gavick violate some standard for calling JS libraries, or is this a symptom of RT and Gavick using different Mootools versions? Don't be bashful... I have to resolve this, because we use mostly RT templates, but do use a Gavick or Yoo template on occasion, so it would be helpful to know what to expect and how to pursue relief. Is the conclusion that on any given site, we can have one and only one template club's products installed? Yuck!

BASHFUL...me  No chance of that!!
While Gavick is a fine product, I still prefer our Rockettheme Gantry templates and it's not because I'm a Mod Squadder.
The reason is that your Gavick Coffee template looks really cool in J16 because the whole structure of the template is GEARED to look like the demo. Try to get a little kinky with your design and you will run into roadblocks.

While our Rockettheme templates with Gantry (I'm excluding the J1.6 ones as they have no RocketLauncher packages yet), I can take one of our newer templates and make it look like ANY of our older templates. That's how customizable and flexible Gantry makes our templates.

In this case I think the common foe is actually Joomla 1.6. We had with Gantry in J1.5 a totally CUSTOMIZABLE template. I could make one page look like Gavick and then have another page look like JoomlArt.
However Joomla 1.6 has removed this functionality of per-menu-item-customization by implementing its "oh - just copy another template to customize your menu pages" with no regard as to whether competing template software is compatible with each other :(
I don't believe that Gavick is violating some kind of protocol but this is an issue we see with a lot of 3rd party extensions that do some funky stuff with their JS and it ends up breaking something with ours..

As I have played around with Joomla 1.6, I have determined, for myself and my sites, that there are no STANDOUT features that 1.6 can contribute.

Security hasn't been changed that much from 1.5.23 and while the Admin has been improved, I can get the same improved functionality using our Mission Control admin template for my 1.5 sites.

Also extensions and components are a lot more stable and reliable in 1.5, whereas that amount of TRULY stable packages for 1.6 are far and few between.

What worries me the most is that from the time J1.6 was released Joomla announced that they would still officially support 1.5 for fifteen months. However all the talk is very shortly Joomla 1.7 will be released. Where that leaves all those designers that built on the 1.6 platform, I can't predict.

I've been an early adopter of new technology most of my life but in this circumstance I'm playing it safe.

All of the above of course is IMHO.
