    • I think you are looking too much at the demo. Install the template or RL and explore the options (colochooser/page-load-transitions etc. ...)
No template will ever be perfect for everybody.

    • Nice post Travis, personally I have to agree about Modulus, the word I would use is underwhelmed. I really liked the previous template Nebulae and it`s proving to be a great success on one of my sites. I can see the issues for you chaps at Rocket Theme though,I was aware that a lot of members wanted Color Chooser included which was not in Nebulae, you can`t please all of the people all of the time. I will admit though that my reaction to Modulus was to sign up with Gavick to give myself further options. That is not to say though that I`m unhappy with Rocket Theme, quite the opposite and I`m hoping that next months template will put a smile on my face :)

Gonzoyid, you're right Nebulae was a great theme and RT have a lot of people to please. The one thing that kills the Nebulae template for me is a lack of a lighter main body (only black/dark grey), even with the available light background styles.

Entropy: Hate vertical scrolling websites, especially for sites with a lot of content and not just short, to-the-point detail pages. Plus the color schemes available are not very great and again, there is no plain jane coloration option (aqua marine, greens, blues and weird mixes of them?!).

Mercado: Actually a very gorgeous template with good color style options. However, it is definitely highly focused on an e-commerce site/store.

Tachyon: Actually my second choice if it were not for the module variations including the icon on the top right corner (very small design disagreement)

Maelstrom: What I am currently using. I absolutely hate the very limited and overdone choices for scrolling imagery - I won't use any of them (I use an alteration of style eight). However, I can see where they would be wanted. This template offers a very nice assortment of module variations and it really got close to what I wanted for my own site. However, there are numerous display bugs with this template.

Paradox: Awesome, awesome, awesome template with a very nice integrated K2 styling, but that centered logo kills me. I wish RT would integrate K2 styling into more of their template releases since it is very popular and used a lot.

On that note, the logo png files don't open and edit in Fireworks CS3....making editing of these logos a very fun task of recreation.

However, I think the biggest thing with RT templates when I am browsing is that I wish some background imagery, module variation graphics, could be intermixed between templates. If I had that ability (without editing the code myself), I would be able to make a perfect site. The packages as is though, I can't find a good match for what I need (Maelstrom and Tachyon are the closest).

    • :arrowu: Posts like this usually go unnoticed by the team because basically they do not monitor this particular forum for this kind of topic.

If you have template ideas, I highly recommend voicing your opinion here, where the team often looks for member's ideas and opinions for upcoming template:

      www.rockettheme.com/forum/index.php?f=16&rb_v=viewforum

(Many many request / suggestions from members have made it into our current template / extension offerings.)

Not every template will suit or satisfy everyone's wants, needs, or taste, and really should be consider a jumping off point for a web developer / designer to start a new site.

(Look at the Member's Sites www.rockettheme.com/forum/index.php?f=17&rb_v=viewforum and you can see how you can customize a template to suit your needs. In fact, on some of the sites, unless you were told which template they used, or view the source code, you'd never be able to tell it was an original RT design. )

Every template you mention comes with a 'however' or a 'but' along with the wish for integration for different features from one template to the next.

Honestly, that's not what support is about, we're here to help you get your templates working as they were designed to function, not custom code a site for you.

If you don't have the skills or the time to get one of our templates exactly the way you want, I suggest posting here, and asking a developer for (paid) support.

    • Thanks for the links, but all the stuff I typed wasn't posted in the suggestion box for a reason: it was all understandably a large wishlist that a template driven company like RT wouldn't cater too for practical reasons.

The "however"(s) and "but"(s) are only ideas expressed in passing conversation and I would never presume to ask for someone (specifically a support MOD) on this support forum to custom code anything for me - that's why RT includes a design disclaimer.

Don't worry though, I will populate the request board with practical feature requests in the future. As of now, I am quite happy with my Maelstrom solution aside from the posts I have made in the support forum so far.

Web design is an expensive endeavor. Most places easily start at $2K for a basic Joomla overhaul. I was lucky with my old site and paid around $600 for custom web/css/basic php design (which was awesome but too restrictive for business growth). I am relatively new to Joomla, so many of my grievances are with the "in-flexibilities" within Joomla itself. :)

    • Just a quick note, as I know you can't please everyone all the time, but I love Modulus, so much so that I can't choose between Reflex or Modulus at the moment.
I have always come back to RT because of the color chooser. Even a template that has all the right stuff, never seems to have just the right color for me or some clients. With RT's color chooser that is never a problem, except for the templates that don't include the color chooser....but that's another post...
      Love Modulus, I really do.

    • Yes, sorry. That was the post I was referring to.
I know by the design it isn't possible with all. Still love it though :) when it is possible.
