Major incompatibility issue (mootools causing havoc)

Hello,
Regretfully we have discovered a major incompatibility issue of the element template and others (mootools) as well.
Neither JCE-Editor nor FCK work in frontend (submit news/ea) in IE7 (only)
The editors work well in admin backend so it is clearly template related in IE7 browser. IE6/FF/Netscape 8.1 work ok
Tinymce works well in submit news but any further advanced editor not in IE7 in combination with the latest templates
We have tested this on multiple systems (plain fresh installed Joomla-systems) and same window arises (see attachement) "Internet Explorer cannot open etc Aborted"
before answering several questions:- Rochen-hosted
- joomla 1.0.12 plain distro
- only JCE and FCK and TinyMCE installed: nothing can interfere
- happens in Vista and XP pro on different systems, etc etc
Most important (mootools related) the browser gives a message in bar:" Waiting for res://ieframe.dll/dnserror.htm..."
We have same issue on multiple systems starting from Vortex up where the new mootools were introduced... Let me explain that for our clients the inability to use and advanced editor in the frontend is an issue and will lead to abandoning RT. This would be a major issue not only for RT but also for us and our clients.
A Google found a very interesting thread on this issue
conclusion of that thread is :your task is to find out which of the add-ons caused the problem, and replace it with a version that's compatible with IE 7. In this case it would mean moving from Rockettheme and installing another template.
That would not be our favorite choice
Please advise?

- Well i seem to be having a little trouble getting jce mambot to install, but i did try FCK and TinyMCE and both worked fine on the frontend with IE7 on th elemental demo site. Anyone else experiencing issues?

Why not move to a different browser?
IE7 is the problem, not mootools, not RT, not JCE. As these other components all work fine in other more advanced/stable/feature filled/standards compliant/modern/non piece of junk browsers.
Firefox trumps IE 7 in every department you can name.
By the way, this situation also means that JCE won't work on ie7 in Joomla 1.5 which has mootools integrated into Joomla itself. Which is why RT has chosen to go with mootools I am pretty sure.
Will you then move away from Joomla in 1.5 because JCE won't work with it? ???
Another alternative is for you to simply to remove the mootools scripts from the templates for your clients and add in scripts that are compatible.
If RT removes mootools, the templates lose a lot of functionality. If they change JS toolkits then RT temples will probably not work in J1.5.
Most, if not all, of the template clubs which use any JS in their templates are using mootools now, because of 1.5. So you don't have anywhere to go to if you want feature rich templates.
Another option is to get JCE to use mootools or work on their IE7 compatibility with mootools. This would probably be your best bet to be honest. As mootools is the future of Joomla, not JCE.
EDIT: A third option is for you to write or have written some custom code which uses TinyMCE for people using i.e.7 and uses JCE if they aren't. Then put a notice to the users that they should upgrade if they want full funtionality.
I am not in anyway affiliated with RT except as a concerned customer who thinks mootools should (and will) stay in the templates

This issue has been reported on the JCE-forum as well related to JCE...Only issue now arises that it also happens with FCK
On 4 different domains in our testing environment we have installed. You are most welcome and i can send you the access. We spend 8 hours testing on the issue and i can send you the client messages (who informed us!) related to this issue if you appreciate?

This is a ridiculous motivation. Tell 90% of the world that they have to take another browser to enable using the RT templates. Sorry mate this is nonsense as is the reaction of moving away from Joomla 1.5. I do not care if somebody likes or dislikes IE. I cannot tell 90% of the world to use FF which happens to be also our browser of choice but thats irrelevant
Relevant is that we are facing an issue which needs a solution......... Again happens in JCE and FCK in Asia, UK and USA on total different systems. So this is not against RT..in contrary if you follow our posts on the forum you will see how we love the templates... The concern is that we need to move since we need other components......Other components need to adapt to RT? well .....i do disagree.....
Your other "solutions" are appreciated but are no solutions at all.

Read again. I offered more than just change browsers.
The notion about moving away from J1.5 is because unless I am wrong mootools is in the J1.5 core.
If Mootools/JCE compatibility is the problem then JCE won't work on J1.5 either which means your clients can't move to J1.5 and keep using JCE. no matter how ridiculous you tell me it is.

(which is probably going to be true)
The reason 90% of browsers are still IE is because most people don't know any better. Until web developers start actually educating people about how lame IE is then this percentage will not change enough that MS will start to actively improve IE to be competitive again. If every web dev in the world started suggesting to people that they change browsers I bet that 90% would shrink real fast, but instead everyone just says 'well 90% use it so we have to live with it'. It's not such a ridiculous notion if everyone worked together. ;D
The sad part is that the problem really does lie with IE7. All you are doing is trying to find a work around for one of the many, many, many, many weaknesses in IE.
As for my other suggestions.
Why not remove mootools? The templates will still work fine without it. You just lose the fancy features. As I already said most template clubs are using mootools now and many components/modules are as well or are moving towards it. You will find more and more issues with Mootools and JCE from things other than RT soon. You also wont get good templates now without mootools in them.
Why not use wysiwyg pro? Why must it be JCE?
Why not get JCE to change to be mootools compatible?
Why are none of these solutions? All of them will fix your problem.
By the way, one thing to check first off is slimbox. The compatibility problem might not be with mootools but with the slimbox JS. I have found it causes a large majority of the conflict problems with the RT templates and other components.
Often just removing slimbox will solve your compatibility problems.
There are alternatives to slimbox which it can be replaced with which might not conflict with JCE.

Not to RT but to mootools. If these components can't adapt to mootools then their future with Joomla is very limited. In fact it stops right here with version 1.12!

I too was having issues with JCE and rocketTheme templates recently. The words head and wall will go someway to describing my frustration. I tried everything uninstalling, then reinstalling, looking at previous sites which all worked and noting their setups to see what was different and why they worked and the new one did not.
In the end I looked at the user manager and noticed that the user manager setting for user editor was still set at Tiny I changed it to JCE and everything is great fully functional JCE editor with great rockettheme templates.;D
Although why you have to now go to user manager to set up the editor when I have never had to do so in the past escapes me ???
