I have just changed templates and have noticed that some of the hard coded links to articles I have used on some pages now does not work.
The article Itemid changed on the site for some reason.
I can fix it by turning off SEF url's and finding the correct article id (which has not changed) then look up the new itemid.
Is this normal ? Why does this happen ?
Shouldn't templates just change the look and not break everything ?
I have just added a new template to my Joomla 1.6.3 installation and there was no change to article ids.
Hope this helps

Hi David,
No my article id's don't change either.
Only the itemid.
I guess by your post you have not had any problems .. but my pages now go to error 404.
I have tested using Joomla native SEF on and htaccess.txt renamed to .htaccess as I am on Apache server. Tried several templates now and still no bad links.
Are you using the native SEF or a 3rd party component?

Hi David,
I am using only JCE editor and Akeeba. Everything else is RT.
I have fixed the links by hand. So it's not really much of a problem for me anymore.
It would be nice to know if anyone else is experiencing the same problem or it's just me though.
