jomsocial - which templates work best?

  • jomsocial - which templates work best?

    • Hi - I'm wondering which templates work best with jomsocial? I know that tachyon was designed with it in mind, but which other ones? I noticed that not all the templates have a section that shows off it's styling capabilities so I'm assuming that not all of them work well with it. Can anyone advise? Thanks!!

      :)

    • Hi, Tachyon is probably your best bet. The July 09 template "Affinity" was also designed with JomSocial in mind, it's a very cool template, but it doesn't use the Gantry Framework. I would recommend Tachyon, the design is fairly simple and easy to modify should you choose to do so. Just my opinion, hope it helps.

    • Hi, which bumps in the road am I facing when I am using Panacea in combination with JSocial?
Tachyon looks great, but Panacea is even nicer :cheesy:
What is your advice here? Thanks !!

    • Hey there, it's hard to say for sure. It should work just fine, the only difference is there is no built in styles for JomSocial in that template, so you may have to do some additional CSS if you're not happy with the way it looks. JomSocial itself has many different style options that you can work with as well, which can also be customized.

You pretty much just have to try and see how it works, you can always install both templates and compare the differences. Hope that helps.

    • YankeeDoodle,

Straight from the Panacea template demo. Menu '3rd Party'

If you wish to use the compatibility styling for JomSocial, K2, Tienda, Virtuemart, and JComments, you will need to activate the styling from the Gantry administrator: Admin → Extensions → Template Manager → rt_panacea_j15 → Advanced → Third Party Styling. If you wish to disable the styling, then proceed to slide the above option to Off
All styling is located in the /templates/rt_panacea_j15/css/extended.css file, so any customizations you wish to make, edit the contents of that CSS file.

    • Hi guys,

I'm also trying to extend my Modulus styling to Jomsocial however I cannot find what CSS file works with 3rd party extensions. Modulus doesnt seem to have an extended.css file or a thirdpary.css file (Tachyon uses this css file).

Does anyone know what file I should edit to include the Jomsocial styling?

Also, I'm using the latest version of Gantry however I cannot see the menu option under Admin → Extensions → Template Manager → rt_modulus16 → Advanced for Third Party Styling.

Does anyone know where this option may have been moved? Or how do I add it to this theme?

      Any help is greatly appreciated.

      Thanks.

    • Hi, since the styles aren't built into this template there isn't a file you can edit. You can try copying the extended.css or other codes from the other template into a style sheet in modulus, or you can edit the JomSocial style sheets directly. That's about the only way you can integrate it. Hope that helps.
